Lagos-based On-Air Personality (OAP), Vera Osokpo, has been honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the media industry, particularly in promoting free speech, encouraging balanced reporting, and advancing developmental journalism.
The award presentation formed part of Isoko Mirror Newspaper’s 20th Anniversary celebration, held at Man̈o Hotel (Yaga), Oleh, Isoko South, Delta State.
According to the organisers, the honour was bestowed on Osokpo for her selflessness, professionalism, and commitment to credible journalistic ideals.
Osokpo, who currently co-anchors the MITV Breakfast Show in Lagos, has distinguished herself across print, electronic, and online journalism — blazing a trail of excellence, versatility, and integrity in the Nigerian media space.
Expressing gratitude to the organisers, she described the recognition as both a motivation and a challenge to do more for society through her work.
“This honour is a challenge for me to improve on what I’m doing for society. I never saw it coming. All I did was try to be a better version of myself as the days go by. I didn’t know people were following and taking note of my activities. Indeed, I am humbled by this honour,” she said.
Osokpo further emphasized that journalism remains a social responsibility requiring integrity and forthrightness from practitioners.
Other recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Award include Hon. Godwin Ogorugba, Executive Chairman of Isoko North Local Government, honoured for his immense contributions to leadership and community development; and DCP Joseph Alukoghene Esegine, Esq., recognised for his remarkable contributions to nation-building.
The awards were presented courtesy of Dr. Fedida Osede Essi, Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of Isoko Mirror Newspaper.
