According to the Army Chief, such free use of weapon for self defense, if allowed could lead to a state of lawlessness.

He added that records did not indicate that the killings in the North Central state is religiously motivated and that the army has never worked in cohort with bandits

Lagbaja commended the troops for their efforts and disclosed that the Nigerian Army will increase its personnel number in Plateau State to cover the gaps.

He decried a situation where a local government vice chairman raised false alarm causing the military to deploy troops to some locations only to discover the story of attack in the area was false.
