The Media Conference of the Methodist Church Nigeria has appointed Rev. Stanley Ihedigbo as Editor of Methodist News, the Church’s official publication.
The announcement was made by Very Rev. Godwin Enenche, Head of the Media Conference and Editor-in-Chief of Methodist News. He described the appointment as a deliberate step to strengthen the paper’s editorial standards and professional management.
Rev. Ihedigbo, a Methodist minister and seasoned journalist, is Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of The Mirror Newspaper, a national title with both print and digital platforms. His background spans editorial planning, news gathering, headline development, production and digital journalism, as well as strategic communication and media management.
Enenche said the Conference valued Ihedigbo’s dual expertise in the media industry and the Church’s structures. “Methodist News remains a vital platform for documenting the Church’s programmes, leadership engagements, evangelism, social interventions and institutional life,” he noted. “Effective editorial leadership is essential to sustaining its credibility and reach.”
The appointment comes amid rapid changes in the media landscape, where audiences increasingly consume news through digital channels and social platforms. Ihedigbo is expected to help shape content that serves both traditional readers and those engaging with the Church online, while upholding standards of accuracy, clarity, balance and proper attribution.
As Editor, he will provide overall editorial direction, coordinate news stories, features, interviews and reports, and work closely with Church leadership, dioceses, ministers and correspondents to ensure comprehensive coverage.
Responding to the appointment, Rev. Ihedigbo thanked the leadership of the Methodist Church Nigeria for the confidence placed in him. He specifically praised the Prelate, His Eminence Dr. Oliver Ali Aba, JP, for his exemplary leadership and commitment to the Church’s growth, and the Secretary of Conference, Rt. Rev. Dr. Babatunde Taiwo, for his administrative support.
He pledged to apply his professional experience to the role and to work with the Media Conference and other stakeholders to keep Methodist News a credible, informative and professionally managed record of the Church’s life and mission.
The appointment marks a new chapter that combines Ihedigbo’s journalistic credentials with his ministerial service, positioning Methodist News to meet contemporary media demands while remaining faithful to its core purpose.
