Kano Governor-Elect Suspends Ganduje Government From Borrowing


Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, the governor elect of Kano State has suspended the outgoing government, of Dr Abdullahi Ganduje from further borrowing.

Yousuf who announced this on April 1, 2023 through his tweeter handle said “that effective from 18th March to 19th May, 2023, approval of loan facilities to KNSG should be with the consent of our incoming government”

It is widely believed that this move will stop the outgoing government from incuring last minute debts for the state to be paid by the inoming administration .
Like many other states, Kano has debts which increased under a former two terms governor of the state Senator Rabiu Kwakwanso. Some of the debts were attributed to scholarship grants by the state government and other projects
