NCS Ibeto Command Collects ₦2.5b in October ,Generates N7.7b in 4 Months as Comptroller Yahaya Deploys Strategies for Efficiency

The Ibeto Seaport and Terminal Area 5 Command of Nigeria Customs Service has recorded a total collection of ₦2,500,934,186.26 for the month of October 2025 showing an increase of ₦569,442,041.31 above it’s previously collected revenue of ₦1,931,492,144.95 in September 2025

Customs Area Controller of the Command, Comptroller Usman Yahaya also disclosed that the command’s collection for four months from July to October totaled ₦7,756,490,440.97

Comptroller Yahaya who described the increase in collection as a fallout from his recent trade facilitation strategies, enhanced stakeholders relation for increased compliance and improved dedication to duties by the officers also restated more commitment to making the port more business friendly.

Giving a breakdown of the collections, the Area Controller said the command generated ₦1,371,933,228.90 for July; ₦1,988,369,465.22 in August;₦1,931,492,144.95 in September and ₦2,500,934,186.26 in October 2025.

Upon assumption of office, Comptroller Yahaya led the command into full implementation of the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi,PhD,MFR psc(+) policy thrust of maximum duty collection, suppression of smuggling, robust stakeholders engagement and application of the various NCS Management programmes for seamless trade facilitation.

He thanked the CGC for setting the command on the path of success with application of technology through deployment of the B’Odogwu platform which is contributing to the command’s development.

Comptroller Yahaya had embarked on proper reorganisation to reposition the area towards optimum performance by interfacing with the Ibeto management on the need for a more conducive work environment like office expansion, better examination area for cargoes and clearly established channel of communication with stakeholders which have all been achieved within a month with prospects for more improvement in future.

Following the CGC’s policy directive on robust stakeholders engagement, the Area Controller received Chief Cletus Ibeto, Chairman Ibeto Group, who promised to always support the command in anyway necessary to achieve it’s mandate.

While congratulating newly promoted officers of the command for their elevation to higher ranks, he reminded them on the need to brace up for higher responsibilities and work harder to justify their new ranks.

He also urged all the officers and men to prepare themselves for training and retraining on various programmes like the Advance Ruling (AR), Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) programme, Time Release Study(TRS) and the recently launched One Stop Shop(OSS) for seamless trade facilitation and hitch free logistics

The command has recently established working relationships with sister government agencies like the Nigeria Police and the National Agency for Food Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC)
