
Comptrollers Frank Onyeka of Tin Can Island Command and Joe Anani of Ports Terminal Multiservices Limited have urged newly promoted officers to work harder while urging those expecting elevation to keep hope alive
The Area Controllers who stated this at a ceremony in Lagos for the decoration of newly promoted officers with their new ranks, also gave words of encouragement to other officers who didn’t make the promotion this this
Comptroller Onyeka said ” You all should see the interest of the service as issues of priority. Let’s continue to work as a united body considering the importance and relevance of the NCS to the economic and social development of the country.
“If you didn’t get the promotion this time around, don’t lose hope. Keep giving your best. Your hard work, dedication and commitment to the development of Nigeria won’t be in vain. Your promotion will come by the grace of God and you will shine
” Those promoted should see their new ranks as a call to higher responsibility, more dedication and leadership task. Let’s emulate the very great examples our CGC Bashir Adewale Adeniyi has set for us with the way he works tirelessly, showing commitment to duty and zero compromise for integrity
Comptroller Anani thanked the CGC and the management for their direction steering the service to sustainable success. He challenged the promoted officers not to see elevation as a reason to relent in hard work but a reason to do more
He further described the promotions as outcomes of resilience, faithfulness and diligence which demands for more at all times within and outside the service.
He added that new ranks come with new responsibilities with higher expectations
Anani said “to each of you who have earned this well-deserved promotion, congratulations! This moment is a testament to your hard work, dedication, and the remarkable contributions you’ve made to the Nigeria Customs Service through this command
“As I congratulate you all for the elevation, let me also place on record that the whole achievements attributable to this command would not have been possible without you individual and collective support.
“I challenge you not to relent in your commitment to duty, don’t be deterred by challenges because you have what it takes to surmount them, and do better for the NCS.
“We’re not just celebrating ranks or new responsibilities; we’re celebrating your growth, your resilience, and your commitment to excellence. Each of you has shown what it means to embody our values of integrity and service
“Today, I urge you not to only see the promotions as a personal milestone but also as a reflection the trust the the service and Comptroller General of Customs Bashir Adewale Adeniyi,MFR have in us.
“The trust is in your abilities, your vision, and your potential to shape the future of the NCS. As you wear the new ranks, know that you’re not just stepping into a position; you’re stepping into an opportunity to lead, to innovate, and to make a difference in even bigger ways.
” Let’s not be carried away by past glories or the joy of the new ranks. As we celebrate, I enjoin you all to stay focused at doing better on the gains achieved using the Unified Customs Management System, B’Odogwu, revenue collection, faster clearance time .
“New ranks are positions for responsibility.We need to jointly consolidate further to achieve greater trade facilitation through faster and flawless processes and improved revenue collection. We also have to be very much at alert against smuggling possibly perpetuated through acts of concealment, false declaration, under declaration and other acts like using wrong Harmonised System (HS) Code to under pay duty
“Let’s renew our commitment to a better realisation of CGC’s trade facilitation drive through the Advance Ruling (AR)the Time Release Study(TRS), Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) programme while improving our knowledge on ICT to be relevant in the ongoing innovations that we are witnessing in the service
“To our spouses other colleagues-serving and retired, mentors, and team members who have supported us to greater heights– thank you. No one achieves success alone, and their encouragement, collaboration, and guidance have been instrumental in helping these promoted officers to shine. The peace you have at home resonates at your workplace too
“On behalf of the CGC, I warmly congratulate all of you and urge those who missed it this time to keep working harder and be hopeful next time” he concluded.
