Indorama Refute Allegations of Unhealthy Environmental Practices

Indorama Eleme Fertilizer & Chemicals Limited has dismissed recent allegations of unhealthy environmental practices, describing them as unfounded and lacking merit.

In a press release signed by Head, Corporate Communications , Justice Tienabeso Bibiye ,the company emphasised its longstanding commitment to compliance with Nigerian laws, judicial processes, and global environmental standards. He explained that the issues raised by Pilex Centre for Civic Education Initiative and Comrade Josiah Jonathan Okpabi, a former employee of one of its contractors, are already before the National Industrial Court in Port Harcourt.

Court filings indicate that the plaintiffs instituted two separate suits. The first, Suit No. NICN/PHC/28/2025 – Pilex Centre for Civic Education Initiative & Comrade Okpabi Josiah Jonathan vs Obewon Ltd & IEFL, was filed on May 5, 2025, and adjourned to October 14 and 15, 2025. The second, Suit No. NICN/PHC/27/2025 – Okpabi Josiah Jonathan vs Obewon Ltd & IEFL, has also been adjourned to October 14, 2025.

Indorama maintained that as a responsible corporate entity, it will not make further comments on matters that are already before a court of competent jurisdiction to avoid infringing on judicial processes. The company seeks patience as the cases progress, while advising the public to disregard the allegations raised.
