Igwe who said this on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 during a top level meeting with Dr Tola Fakolade, Director of the National Single Window Project at the council’s head office, stated that the CRFFN uphold it’s regulatory role over freight forwarding practice in the country

While disclosing that there are over 40,000 companies involved in the logistics ecosystem and many are yet to be properly registered with the CRFFN, Igwe said the council will continually interface with NSW project implementation body to know all they require from freight forwarding practitioners and incorporate such requirements into criteria for their registration and license revalidation

On steps being taken for the registration, the Registrar said the CRFFN has commenced taken biometric data from freight forwarding practitioners at the airport with the collaboration of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) while planning to replicate same at the ports in conjunction with the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA)

The Registrar added that the council’s role as regulator is incontrovertible as it is the sole body overseeing the practice of freight forwarding in the country, not the various associations registered under it.

According to him, there are bigger players in the logistics business like DHL and FedEx who are registered under the CRFFN but do not belong to any association

Also speaking at the meeting, Fakolade said only freight forwarding practitioners and companies registered with the CRFFN will have access to the National Single Window(NSW) platform expected to come live in the first quarter of 2026

The National Single Window (NSW) project in Nigeria is a government initiative aimed at streamlining import and export processes by creating a centralized, electronic platform for trade-related documentation and procedures. This project is designed to integrate various government agencies and stakeholders into a unified system, enhancing efficiency, transparency, and trade competitiveness. The NSW is targeted to launch in the first quarter of 2026.
