It was a day of joy and bliss as Dame Rebecca Aikhomu, wife of Late Admiral Augustus Aikhomu, former military Vice President of Nigeria was eulogised for being a shining light and touching others in very memorable ways at various moments
These were the words of many who spoke at a thanksgiving service in celebration of Dame Aikhomu’s 85th birthday celebration at the Church of Pentecost, Diocese of Lagos of the Anglican Communion in Festac Town
Delivering a homily,Rt Rev James Olusola Odedeji, Bishop of the Diocese of Lagos West described the celebrant as one whose life is a fulfilled one and full of selflessness that has impacted many people positively in the country
The encomium which was part of the sermon delivered by Rev Odedeji at the special thanksgiving service also featured hymns and pleasantries in celebration of the matriarch whose celebration drew guests from Edo and other parts of the country into Lagos
Reverend Odedeji urged the celebrant to continually live with heaven in focus while wishing her long life in good health with unlimited joy.
The clergyman while commending Dame Aikhomu for her good works including being a benefactor to the church, advised that she remains steadfast in the service to God and humanity and never get tired of her utmost spirituality.
