Apapa Customs Generates N1.378tr Revenue, Strengthens Stakeholder Engagement With NAGAFF, ANLCA

The Apapa Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has recorded a remarkable revenue generation of ₦1.378 trillion in the first half of 2025.

This was disclosed by the Customs Area Controller of Apapa Command, Comptroller Babatunde Olomu during an official visit to the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) in Apapa on 1st July, 2025.

Speaking at the event, the Comptroller emphasised that the visit was in line with the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi’s directive for robust stakeholder engagement and trust-building across commands.

He described the relationship between the Nigeria Customs Service and NAGAFF as a strategic partnership that continues to yield positive outcomes for trade facilitation, compliance, and national revenue growth.

Olomu lauded NAGAFF for its unwavering commitment to professionalism and its critical role in the development of freight forwarding in Nigeria. He paid special tribute to Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, the founder of NAGAFF, for his pioneering efforts in shaping the freight forwarding industry and creating opportunities for young professionals in the logistics and trade value chain.

According to the CAC , the revenue feat achieved by the Apapa Area Command in the first half of 2025 would not have been possible without the support and cooperation of freight forwarders under NAGAFF.

Olomu reiterated that the visit is a  shared vision between the Nigeria Customs Service and freight forwarders for a seamless logistics ecosystem that supports national development through effective trade facilitation.

The association’s president ,High Chief Tochukwu Ezisi, in his welcome address described the visit as  an honor and opportunity for collaboration.He said that meeting is not merely ceremonial but represents a mutual goal of transforming Nigeria’s cargo clearance system  into a more transparent, efficient, and secure process .He believes that collaborating with the regulators and practitioners is essential for fostering a thriving port environment.

In the same vein , the CAC paid a courtesy visit to Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents(ANLCA ) where he commended the organisation for their continued cooperation and professionalism.

He emphasised the importance of the well-being of all stakeholders operating within the port environment and encouraged members of the association to take full advantage of the medical facilities available at the Apapa Command.

According to him, the health and safety of port users remain a top priority for the Nigeria Customs Service, and the facilities are well-equipped to provide quality medical attention to both customs personnel and stakeholders alike. He assured that the command remains open to further collaboration in ensuring a healthy and productive working environment for all.

Chairmam of the association Chief Chukwumalu Emeka , in response commended the CAC for his  efforts in trade facilitation, anti-smuggling, and revenue generation. He said that as licensed customs agents, they understand the critical role they  play in the successful implementation of his  mandate.

Emeka also used the opportunity to appeal to the Comptroller-General of Customs, to consider the inclusion of ANLCA in the Nigeria Customs Service’s Corporate Social Responsibility programs, stressing that the association comprises thousands of agents who, beyond their daily activities, are deeply committed to the development of the ports community and the well-being of the larger society.
