Oyo/Osun Customs Controller Visits Ooni of Ife, Pledges Collaboration


Comptroller Joseph Olugbuyi Adelaja, the Customs Area Controller of the Oyo/Osun Area Command ,has  paid a courtesy visit to the Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, at the historic palace in Ile-Ife.

The CAC who led his delegation to the palace said the visit aimed to strengthen the longstanding relationship between the Nigeria Customs Service and the revered throne of Oduduwa.

During the meeting,  Adelaja emphasised the importance of collaboration with traditional authorities in promoting lawful trade, economic stability, and national security. He acknowledged the Ooni’s significant role as a custodian of Yoruba culture, a unifier, and a symbol of peace, whose influence extends beyond the Yoruba people to Nigerians at large. 

He reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to its core responsibilities, including revenue generation, border security, and trade facilitation. He sought the Ooni’s continued support and cooperation in curbing smuggling and other unlawful activities that undermine national economic interests.

In response, the Ooni warmly welcomed Comptroller Adelaja and commended the Nigeria Customs Service for its vital role in the nation’s economic development.
