Catholic Priest Allegedly Shoots Boy in Imo over ‘Knockout’

The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the death of a boy allegedly shot by a yet-to-be-identified Catholic priest after the victim reportedly set off fireworks (commonly known as knockouts) within a church premises in Imo State.

Henry Okoye, spokesperson for the Imo State Police Command, disclosed the incident during an interview with newsmen on Thursday.

However, he declined to reveal the names of both the priest and the deceased, as well as the parish involved.

“The police have commenced an investigation into the matter. This is all I can say for the moment,” Okoye stated.


Details surrounding the incident remain unclear, but a Facebook post shared via the page “For The Love Of Anambra” on Wednesday claimed that after the boy set off the fireworks, the priest allegedly retrieved a firearm and shot him.

The incident has sparked widespread outrage on social media, with many users expressing shock and calling for justice.
