Victims Of Gender-Based Violence To Benefit From RIVCHPP Reproductive Health Scheme

The Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Programme (RIVCHPP) has declared that it has prepared healthcare services to cover the reproductive health of victims of sexual and gender based violence, who are enrolled in its programme

Acting Executive Secretary of RIVCHPP, Dr. Vetty Agala, made the declaration at her office in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital while welcoming a team from the Rivers State Response Team on Violence Against Women and Children.

She pledged the agency’s readiness of the agency to collaborate with bodies and groups that will help the agency to impress on residents of the state the need to participate in the scheme to enjoy the health largesse provided through the medium of the functional health insurance scheme that her agency coordinates in the state.

Agala, who revealed that enrollees of the programme could access healthcare services at all times while non-enrollees will only be given such an opportunity only in cases of emergency, urged everyone living and doing business in the state to avail themselves of the opportunity and be enrolled into the programme so as to enjoy the bountiful rewards that come with being part of the programme.

Coordinator of the team, Tombari Dumka-Kote, stressed the need for collaboration to make the people, especially victims of sexual and gender based violence to access healthcare without the agonies of paying through their noses.

Dumka-Kote, used the opportunity of the visit to congratulate the Acting Executive Secretary of RIVCHPP on her appointment, expressed the readiness and willingness of his team to work with the agency in achieving its goals and vision.
