Safety, Revenue, Digital Transformation Top Priorities of FAAN, Says Kuku

The Managing Director/Chief Executive, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) , Mrs Olubunmi Kuku, has made a presentation of her priority programs of Safety, Security, Culture Transformation, Digital Transformation, Service Quality and Revenue Generation that are for immediate implementation in the Aviation Sector.

According to a Press Release issued by FAAN Director, Public Affairs & Consumer Protection, Mrs Obiageli Orah, the FAAN MD made the presentation during a meeting organized by the management at the New Terminal of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.She discussed salient issues that concerns the aviation industry.

Mrs Kuku enlightened AON on what plans the Authority has for airport development and listened to feedbacks from the operators in order to enable FAAN provide better services that will cascade to passengers.

The FAAN Director, Public Affairs & Consumer Protection noted that Olubunmi Kuku expressed her desire to see FAAN as one of the top airport management companies in sub-Saharan Africa within the next decade and identified the need for collaboration with the AON to achieve the goal.

Obiageli Orah added that during the meeting which had executives from 20 airlines in attendance, the Vice President of the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) and the Chief Executive Officer of Air Peace, Dr Allen Onyema, commended FAAN for its sincere efforts to bring about positive changes at the federal airports and passed a vote of confidence .

Dr. Onyema said AON members are happy to see how FAAN and the Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr Festus Keyamo SAN, have approached airport management with a deep sense of responsibility.

He said “When government does what is wrong, you can say it, but what is happening in FAAN is commendable.The desire to do good is very, very transparent. You can see it. So, why won’t we have confidence in the system? This is no more fighting time; this is time for collaboration.”

Some of the resolutions reached include the need for more frequent meetings, quicker response to AON correspondences, further improvements on airport infrastructure and the digitalisation of revenue collection amongst others. The Authority was asked to keep up with the good work in the area of providing quality service, which the airline operators and passengers can attest to.

Directors of the Authority present included the Director of Engineering Services, Engineer Abiola Muniru Adejare; Director of Airport Operations, Captain Abdullahi Mahmood; Director of Special Duties, Mr Henry Agbebire; and Director of Aviation Security Services, ACP Afegbai Albert Igbafe (Rtd). They all took turns to enlighten all attendees as to what efforts are being made to improve service quality at the airport.
